Sister Terence (Elizabeth) Nehl, O.S.B.

S. Terence was born on April 16, 1929, to Louis and Tillie (Tabery) Nehl in Wadena, Minn. Here she attended St. Ann’s Grade School and Wadena Public High School. She entered Saint Benedict’s Monastery on September 8, 1947, was received into the novitiate on June 16, 1948, made her first monastic profession on July 11, 1949, and her perpetual profession on July 11, 1952.
At the College of Saint Benedict, S. Terence received a BA degree in Latin with minors in music, English and philosophy; she earned an MA in Latin at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis. She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study in the American Academy in Rome. Further studies were at Naples Cumae, Italy; Oakland University in Rochester, Mich.; Oberlein Conservatory of Music in Oberlein, Ohio; University of Minnesota, Minneapolis; and at Mundelein College, Chicago; at St. Norbert’s College, DePere, Wis., she received a certificate of completion at the Theological Institute
