With the sun moving south and dropping lower in the heavens, one part of our surroundings grows and becomes larger. When you step outside on a sunny winter day, take a look at your shadow. It will run before you long and lean, bordered by brilliant sunshine not unfriendly but somehow demanding attention. You can change and contort it with your movements until it pleases you. We all have an inner shadow that demands attention as our spiritual life grows older. You can twist, squeeze, shape and change it until you are willing to own it and say, “That’s my life.” Then let it run before you bordered by the brilliance of your efforts. It will continue to change. It will be amazing and so worthwhile.
