New Haehn exhibit bears out the great liturgical tradition of the Benedictine women of St. Joseph, Minnesota.

Spools.jpgThis exhibit strives to visually present the evolution of liturgical and devotional expression within the community at Saint Benedict’s Monastery. The role of art, music and symbolism in monastic worship often parallels the liturgical shifts seen in area parish churches. The needlework with religious symbols, woven vesture, altar vessels and accessories featured in this exhibit offer a deeper understanding of the Church’s devotional and liturgical history and how what is held as holy can be experienced through artistic work incorporated into Catholic worship.

“Insight and Access into the Divine: Experiencing the Holy through the Visual” will run from March 9 through December 21, 2008.

The Haehn Museum is located in the Art and Heritage Place at Saint Benedict’s Monastery in St. Joseph, Minn. Museum and Whitby Gift Shop and Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 1 to 3:30 p.m. For more information, please call 320-363-7098.
