    July 10, 1934 – July 3, 2017
    Saint Benedict’s Monastery
    St. Joseph, Minn.

The Eucharist of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at the Sacred Heart Chapel, Saint Benedict’s Monastery, St. Joseph, Minn., for Sister Margo (Kenric) Bischof, who died, age 82, on July 3, 2017, at Saint Scholastica Convent, St. Cloud, Minn. Burial will be in the monastery cemetery. Friends may call at Saint Scholastica Convent on Friday, July 7, from 1-6 p.m. or for a Vigil Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Saint Benedict’s Monastery. Visitation continues at 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral on Saturday, July 8.

Margo Bischof, the second youngest of nine children, was born July 10, 1934, to Nicholas and Tecla (Lauer) Bischof in Watkins, Minn. She attended Assumption Grade School and Eden Valley High School in Eden Valley, Minn. She entered Saint Benedict’s Monastery on September 2, 1956; was received into the novitiate as Sister Kenric on June 18, 1957; made first profession on July 11, 1958, and perpetual monastic profession on July 11, 1961. She returned to her baptismal name in 1969.

    S. Margo received a B.S. degree in business education with minors in English, philosophy and secondary education from the College of Saint Benedict. She later attended the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C, where she earned an M.A. degree in business education, and St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud.

Business was the major focus of S. Margo’s ministry and she utilized her business knowledge and ability in a variety of capacities. She served in secondary education, teaching business education at Saint Benedict’s High School, St. Joseph, and Pierz Memorial High School in Pierz, Minn., and was later employed at St. Cloud Hospital in the Business Office. At the College of Saint Benedict, S. Margo was Assistant Dean of Continuing Education. Sister also served in the monastery’s Business Office, Development and Communications Office, was secretary to the prioress, personnel director for lay employees and served as community purchaser. She continued as purchaser until some weeks before her death. She also served as a member of the monastery’s Education Advisory Committee and Finance Committee. S. Margo carried out all her ministries in a quiet, generous, unassuming manner.

    S. Margo is survived by members of her Benedictine community, a brother, James (Watkins, Minn.), her sister, Sister Loraine Bischof, OSB, (Saint Scholastica Convent, St. Cloud) and a brother-in-law, Ernest Utecht (Shoreview, Minn.), as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers: John, Joseph, Reverend Simon Bischof, OSB, Richard, Eugene, and a sister, Mary Kay Utecht.

Please direct memorial gifts to the Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict Retirement Fund.
