A peaceful, serene 7-tier labyrinth was commissioned by a generous donor during the summer of 2011, and labyrinth designer Lisa Gidlow-Moriarity was contracted to plan and coordinate the construction of our labyrinth.
Volunteers, including many Sisters, spent a day in October of 2011 digging the trenches and laying each block by hand, completing the project in just under nine hours. The labyrinth is open to all, and center benches for rest and reflection will be installed in the spring of 2012.
The labyrinth is located just behind the Sprirituality Center at our monastery. It is open dawn to dusk. As of February, 2012, the labyrinth is mostly free of snow due to low snowfall this winter, making it available for walking mediation.
