Current Exhibition:

By the Work of Our Hands

March 8, 2009 through December 23, 2009

This year's exhibit, "By the Work of Our Hands," tells the story of the legacy and continuing commitment to sustainability and land management at Saint Benedict's Monastery.

For excerpts from the current exhibit, click on the link below to see a video slideshow.

The original inspiration for the exhibit came from an essay written by Mary (Thomes) Locke when she was a senior at the College of Saint Benedict in 1944. The essay, "These Gentle Communists," won a national creative writing contest for college students conducted by Atlantic Monthly magazine in June 1944. It was published in St. Benedict's Quarterly (Spring 1944); Reader's Digest (July 1944); and Today (December 1947). A facsimile copy of the article is available by clicking on the link below.
